Adaptive Art Learns About Aboriginal Art

Students in Adaptive Art learned about Aboriginal Art from the continent of Australia.

We took their artwork as inspiration for our own stippled, warm & cool color paintings.

 

Playing Catch Up {Part III}

6th graders completed some really fantastic large scale masks.
{The pictures don't really do them justice, as they are about 2x3'}

And 7th graders made some beautiful torn paper collage portraits of their favorite celebrities or animals.
{It took a lot of time, but the results were awesome!}

Video Games! Art! Finally!

Last month the Museum of Modern Art announced they would be including a permanent collection of video games into their museum in March. 

PacMan, Tetris, The Sims, are just a few of the titles that will join famous Picassos, Pollocks and Warhols on the walls of MoMA.

This video by PBS Idea Channel discusses their acquisition and talks about his picks for the 5 most artful video games.

 That begs the question, are video games art? If not, why not? If so, why so? If you had to list what you think are the Top 5 Most Artful Video Games, what would you include on that list?

Patterned Coil Mugs {7th Grade - 3D}

Before the holidays, the seventh grade 3D course finished glazing their ceramic mugs. We celebrated with snacks and then many of the students gave them away as gifts.

Playing Catch Up {Part II}

Okay. So this school year has still be incredibly busy. We have been so caught up in learning and art making that very little time has been devoted to blogging! I apologize for my internet absence, but classroom stuff is top priority!

Anyways, last Thursday was the last day of the second 9 weeks and I wanted to say "fairwell!" to an amazing group of students and some very talented artists and creative actors!
